On Sunday, April 13th, NBC’s Dateline aired a documentary about my Trans-Atlantic Ocean Expedition—and the harrowing capsize that nearly cost my crew and me our lives. After 73 days at sea, just 10 days short of our destination in Miami, Florida, we faced the ultimate test of resilience in the heart of the Bermuda Triangle.

A plan only matters if you can execute it under pressure. We had prepared for every possible scenario, but when the boat flipped, our ability to respond in real-time was what kept us safe. In business, the same principle applies. A solid strategy is critical, but the ability to execute effectively, especially in uncertainty, is what separates great leaders from the rest.
